In the book The 48 laws of power, the author Robert Greene expresses many aspects and rules of how to become a powerful person. Rule number 15 is “Crush your enemy totally” and Robert Greene explains how you should not leave any opportunity for your enemey to take revenge because they can emerge against you for revenge.

All great leaders since Moses have known that a feared enemy must be crushed completely. (Sometimes they have learned this the hard way.) If one ember is left alight, nio matter how dimly it smolders, a fire will eventually break out. More is lost through stopping halfway that through total annihilation: The enemy will recover, and will seek revenge. Crush him, not only in body but in spirit.

This law made me reflect on how stopping something halfway through is more dangerous than just finishing the work because if you stop in the middle of something, it can end really bad. Is like leaving a surgery halfway with the patient still opened.

Hi, today I am going to talk about the last day with my friends in Mexico before I came to live in Canada for my exchange year, it was August 22nd. We were with my best friends and we were baking cupcakes, brownies and when we finished them we went to eat in a field to have a picnic, that day is one of the best days of my life. I was enjoying the time 100 percent, I had no complaints, no sadness, no moments of negative thoughts, I was just living in the moment and enjoying every second. That day was great but the bad part of the day was the goodbye, I cried that day like never before because they are my loving family, I have known them for 13 years. That day I keep the beautiful moments because I knew that it was not going to be a goodbye but a see you later, that the love and the good moments are still there.

Ice skating in Canada

I have skated my whole life and when I arrived here, I could not stop skating, skating is something I really enjoy and something I could not stop doing so I decided to start skating in JDF. When I went to the tryouts, I was nervous but that would not stop me from doing something I love. A week later, they told me I made it into the team, so I got excited and was ready to start a new adventure, learning new things and enjoying my favorite sport. When I started to skate, it felt different to learn new things and in a new ice rink. At the end everything is going great, and I always get extremely excited when I get the chance to go to skate, every day I am learning new thing and I get better every day. I cannot wait to go back to Mexico and use everything I have learned in my country and with all the new experiences, friends, and ideas that skating in Canada has left me and I will continue to learn more to make the most out of this amazing experience to do something I love in a great place like Canada .

One sunny morning, our family decided to go to the park Garden|Play. I was as excited as a little bird, singing and dancing happily Jumping around, impatiently waiting for this day to arrive. We took a bus to the park. The park was lined with trees and flowers. In full bloom, the scenery is pleasant. I took a deep breath and felt To the freshness and beauty of nature. We walked wetly on the boulevard Go up and enjoy the beautiful scenery around you. The bird happily sits on the branch Singing songs, as if to welcome us. breeze blows The leaves sway in the wind, as if dancing for us. flowers to me They smile, as if showing us their beauty.

PW#4 Hosea, Lenny and the Pinkertons

As everyone has to know by now, I love games, and this personal writing is gonna be about… GAMES. There is a cowboy game called red dead redemption 2, it’s a sad game and a very long game, it’s very easy to get attached to. I was doing a mission where I had to rob a bank to get money to escape from people that wanted to kill me and my gang. while robbing it, the law showed up, and Hosea, an old guy in our gang, was being held at gunpoint by these Pinkertons, Another law from a different place that wanted our gang dead, and their leader, Milton, said that he wanted our gang leader Dutch. Dutch didn’t give himself up and then Milton put a bullet through Hosea’s head. Everyone that was robbing the bank with me went on a rampage and started killing everyone, then me and Dutch made a plan to escape to the roof. When we got up, everyone split up in groups, I went with Lenny, a boy in our gang that was around 20 years old. While he was running he look behind at me and yelled “come on this way!” but then two Pinkertons came out from a corner and shot him dead. I spent a whole 10 minutes grieving his death and eventually got off the game but I haven’t finished the mission yet. One thing I’ve noticed from this game is that you don’t miss anyone from your group until you see one of them lying on the ground dead. Even if it is one of the most annoying people ever, you don’t miss them until they go.

The book i am reading is called Icebreaker is a book in which a figure skater fall in love with a hockey player.

I sit in the bench beside her bag and clear my throat. “Anastasia”?

her eyes lock with mine, plush lips immediatly pouting.”what do you want?”

“I need a favor ”

“no”

“you havent even heard what is yet”

“Dont need to. the answer is no”

“What if i tell you that is important fot both of our best friends happiness?”

She sighs, a noise Im used te hearing now, putting her hands on her lips.”ill bite. go on”

I really like this part of the book because its very important because Anastasia and Nate start to get along well together.

PW#4 “Lore”

Lore is a story behind the sights. It can be hidden behind simple things, such as the lore of Human kind. Lore is something I have and always will have a interest in, because there will always be lore in everything, but it’s never specific. You see, lore doesn’t come from “Truth” but the human brain’s personal imagination, in which it is not a belief either, but simply by using all the facts known, create a specific storyline you follow or believe to be true. Lore has and always will be complicated because there is no real truth in it and there never will be.

You see, the thought of Human evolution is lore, but it’s also a religion. From the thought of the first cell, and putting together the pieces to follow up to now and being able to tell that story is the lore of human kind. However, lore can also be religious, just like Christianity, the belief that God had created Adam and Eve, then to follow that story up until today’s date is lore also. Lore can also be in things like TV shows, the story hidden behind the screen. It can also be in video games, which if you know me, I would rant about that with a smile on my face the whole time, talk to me if you want to know about FNaF.

I love looking for Lore, especially in games because even the littlest things can mean something so big. You brighten images and match colors and recognize words that they have said before, such as “Don’t you remember what you saw?” you have to match characters and descriptions together and i think that’s neat. I love talking about theories and lore, it’s generally my favorite thing in the world.

PW#4 The Weekend

I know that the title doesn’t look nor sound thrilling, but, that is kind of the main point here. It has recently come to my attention that lately all of the weekends pass by so quickly, that I barely get any chance to rest. It feels like Friday is the longest day of all, and then afterwards Saturday i can’t remember about, almost like in the time of sunset to the time of dawn Saturday passes in between that time. Sunday is the shortest and busiest day, which, in my opinion, should be a relaxing day. This particular past weekend, was really short, perhaps, too short. Everything I can remember was on Friday I was eating Pizza and then on Sunday I was rushing, cleaning, cooking, and doing other chores. To put it this way, I am living a very adulthood life, Pay check to Pay check kind of style (Friday to Friday). This of course is a very wrong life style, so I am making a goal for myself: I plan to improve my lifestyle by going outside and walking my dog for an hour after school to sort of “Lengthen the time” for a little bit.

To further improve my lifestyle, I will also spend time with my family because they are the only valuable ones in our life. I can also go and draw with my sisters since they are very good drawers.

PW#4 Boarding schools

In 2021, I made the decision to go from Guadalajara, Mexico to a boarding school in Florida. I was tired of my school in mexico and wanted to try new things, so I made the admission process and was accepted in the middle of the year. In January, I arrived at  the school and was so nervous that my English was failing, so everything I knew at the moment was “hello” and that is the only thing I said my first day. The next day, I was explained with how the school worked and got a tour of the school. By that moment my  English returned to normal but not as good. I went into my first class with a nice welcoming from my classmates who some of them will become my friends. I specially liked the sports in the school and did almost all of them. Now I am in the complete opposite warm, wet climate from Florida to a really cold, windy cimate here in Victoria, but so far, I’m really liking it.

PW#4 2 goals!

This was one of the rarest things that happens in sports! On Saturday, I did something that totally surprised me. It was a nice day outside for soccer and it was our last game of preseason. We wanted to end on a high note (we did!). We were playing against Vancouver United, and before the game started I had a good chat with my coach talking about the future to me as a player, basically how far he thinks I can go. Our assistant coach was going over corner kicks with us, I told myself that I was going to score a header. Soon the game started and I was feeling confident, at the start of the game, both teams were feeling each other out. The other team was aggressive, I was getting crunched by their players. It got to the point where I was about to ask the coach for a substitution, but in my head, I said that I had to persevere through it. After about 40 minutes we were dominating, we also had a corner kick. I was on the right side of the goalie and the ball came in focused on the ball. Then BAM!! it went into the near post off my header, the feeling is something you can not describe. This was not the first time I have scored off a corner as well. During half-time our coach was pleased not satisfied though. Then in the 65th minute we had another corner, this time I was in front off the goalie. The ball came in perfectly, I     redirected the ball off my head into the far post top corner. After those 2 goals, I thought how rare it is for the same player to score off a corner kick. We scored another goal after that, which I was involved in. The game ended 3-1. They were a decent team, but we just outclassed them on and off the ball. Overall, it was a great preseason for the team (4wins-1draw-4losses) and for me as a player (6 goals). During the actual season I know that we will have a great season and I will score and provide a lot of goals.

The book i am reading is called “The Hunger Games” by Suzanne Collins  is a book about twelve districts and how each year the cruel capitol chooses one boy and one girl from each district to participate in the Hunger Games where they fight to death to entretain others. I started reading this book and from what I have read I am really liking the This book, and this is actually a book I enjoy reading since its about adventure and it’s a very entertaining book, I don’t like reading and this book made me realize that if u choose the right book u can actually start enjoying reading and making it a habit.

“Prim!” The strangled cry comes out of my throat, and my muscles begin to move again. “Prim!” I don’t need to shove through the crowd. The other kids make way immediately allowing me a straight path to the stage. I reach her just as she is about to mount the steps. With one sweep of my arm, I push her behind me.
“I volunteer!” I gasp. “I volunteer as tribute!”
There’s some confusion on the stage. District 12 hasnt had a volunteer in decades and the protocol has become rusty. The rule is chat once a tribute’s name has been pulled from the ball another eligible boy, if a boy’s name has been read or girl, if a girl’s name has been read, can step forward to take his or her place.”

I think this is a very important part of the book since its shows the start of Katniss challenge and the start of her story in the hunger games and the way she volunteers for her sister shows how much she cares about her family; I thought It was very brave of Katniss to give her life and volunteer for her sister that tells us a lot about herself and how she is brave.

In the summer of 2018 I went to a beach in the north of France, the beach of Biárritz. I was staying with both my parents and my cousins and their parents. We stayed for 2 weeks in a big hotel which looked like a castle; I remember the delicious breakfasts they served, it was a buffet with lots of bakery, different types of fresh fruit, hot plates such as bacon, sausages, eggs… and many different drinks. Everything tasted delicious! My cousins and I spend the whole day at the beach with my aunt and played in the sand and jumped waves. A couple of weeks before going to the beach we saw in the news that there were appearing some jellyfishes that were endangered in the north of France but we did not think anything about it. We were impressed when, in the last day of our stay I found one of those jellyfishes at the beach and remembered about the news. I told my cousins and we got a big bucket and carefully managed to get the jellyfish in. Then, we got the jellyfish in the sea and left it there. We were so happy that we saved one of those specimens. When we told our parents, at first, they got scared that it may had stung us, but after some time, they realized that we did a great job saving it and took us to a big toy store and bought us some toys. This was one of my best trips ever.

In the book Harry Potter and the Philosopher Stone by J.K Rowling in the chapter 10- Hallow´en, Harry Potter was at the table eating at the dinning hall when a package and a letter arrived to him. He read it and didn`t know what McGonagall was talking about, so Ron Weasley explained it to him.

DO NOT OPEN THE PARCEL AT THE TABLE.
It contains your new Nimbus Two Thousand, but I don’t want everybody knowing you’ve got a broomstick or they’ll all want one.
Oliver Wood will meet you tonight on the Quidditch pitch at seven o’clock for your first training session.

-Prof. M. McGonagall (p. 176)

I like this quotation of the page 176 because McGonagall gave Harry his first gift, because the Dudley Family never gave one to him; in this part Harry felt loved by someone because of a gift. Also the Quidittch will be a game/sport that Harry would love in the future and will give him a lot of oportunities.

pw #4 A bestfriend like mine

Get yourself a best friend like mine,
One that tears up.
when she sees you cry

One that never forgets to tell you your worth.
all while struggling to find her own
despite being the prettiest girl on earth

One that never fails to be there when you need:
Whether its 3am or 3pm. she’s there for me to reach

So get yourself a best friend like mine:
Because even when my world is crumbling.
through the debris and the mess in my mind.
there she stands waiting for me to find

even if i am blind
there she is to open my eyes
To make me remind
The value I have.

She makes me laugh
In the worst of the times
I couldn’t be more lucky
with her all shine.

PW #4 Reasoning

According to my friend Spencer, there are only three types of reasoning in the world: religious, scientific, and Speebphilosophy – his own unique approach to life. Unlike religious and scientific thinking, Speebphilosophy does not rely on any principles or a comprehensive understanding on how the world works. It instead relies on basic common insects every human can achieve by shutting down their past, future, and present thinking.

Over the weekend it was deeply interesting for me to hear this, especially because of the fact I’ve never thought to make my way of thinking/living upon life before. The idea of constructing my own belief was so abstract and out of the ordinary that I almost jumped out of my seat when I heard this. Not only have I never thought to make my own reasoning before, but I’ve also never relied on any other type of reasoning besides scientific to answer different frequently asked questions, which have already been answered for me.

Questions such as ‘Why don’t snakes have arms?’ Or even more heavy-hitting questions such as ‘Why do humans need something to believe in?’ Were all answered by Speebphilosophy with fresh answers that have never been thought of before. Of course, these answers were horrifically wrong, to say the least, nonetheless, it is interesting to note how he had even thought of doing anything so dull-witted before knowing full-heartedly he was wrong. By knowing he was wrong from the minute he started thinking, Spencer could let his imagination run wild, with no restraints in sight. This I believe is something people should do more often to clear their minds and generally have fun creating solutions in a world that has all the answers for us.

Poem

Beneath a sky of endless blue, Where waves in rhythmic dance ensue, The ocean whispers tales untold, In liquid depths, its mysteries unfold.

A canvas vast, horizon wide, Where seagulls soar with graceful pride, Salt-kissed breeze and sandy shore, A symphony of the ocean’s lore.

The tides, like a heartbeat, ebb and flow, A timeless rhythm, a tranquil show, In shades of sapphire and emerald hue, The ocean’s palette paints the view.

Whispers of the ancient deep, Secrets in the coral keep, Majestic whales and dolphins play, In this watery world, they find their way.

PW#4 – My Bearded Dragon

I have a pet Bearded Dragon named Eddie which I got for my 6th birthday. At first, we thought she was a boy but then she laid about 50 eggs, so we know she is a girl now. When we got her, she was about four inches but now she is 2 feet long! She enjoys running around in our back garden during the summer to soak up the heat because Bearded Dragons are reptiles, (cold blooded). We sometimes take her down to the beach because she loves the sand and logs. We have a tank for her which has a couple logs in it which I picked out from the beach, and a box so she is closer to her heat lamp, and of course, food and water. My Bearded Dragon eats meal worms, crickets, carrots, cucumber, and she loves blueberries. She is 8 years old now but still active. In the morning she puffs up her “beard” which makes her look like a balloon. She usually spends the day soaking up heat, then climbs down into her cave I made her to go to sleep at night.

PW #4 My first time playing in Europe

My first time playing in Europe

It all started with a soccer camp, I was very excited because it was my first time that I was going to go to a soccer camp, the camp was in the mountains with big cabins for all the players, we were training about 5 hours a day, two weeks and every night we had to go for a run, it was very tiring, but I was so obsessed with going to Spain to play that even if it hurt, I did, I made a lot of friends, some older than me and some smaller, and I also made friends my age because I was going to play with them, so I had to adapt, then once they chose me that I was very nervous, they told us when our flight left the procedures to be able to travel and everything that was needed, I said goodbye to my family, the only one who accompanied me was my mother, so I had to say goodbye to the others, then once we were on the plane I couldn’t believe it, I couldn’t believe that I had made it, then arriving at Madrid Airport, we We got off and they picked us up in a truck,I had time to meet more people and when we arrived at the hotel our roommates assigned us, I had played with two children from Arizona, very cool and the hotel was very big, it had everything, the next day of all that they told us to prepare because we were going to have a training session in the morning with a soccer player and it was very cold and we were all giving our best And no one would give up,the next day we had our first match and we were all very nervous because in the end we won, I don’t remember how much and we were all very happy, two days later the matches started we were in 3rd place and we all felt bad but we knew that we were going to go play in Barcelona and we felt better in Barcelona we were in 2nd place and we already felt much better and we had to go back to Barcelona. Mexico.

My top 3 favorite movies and why:

  • Scream
  • Five Nights At Freddys
  • The babysitter

My first Favorite movie is Scream because I like the thrill of the movie and how it is a horror flim, I also like that the movie is unexpected and I also love the characters in Scream. For my second favorite movie it is Fight Nights At Freddys. I enjoyed this movie because it had my favorite character from scream playing a killer in the Five Nights at Freddys movie and he was also a killer in Scream, I also enjoyed how the movie was very scary and has a couple of jump scares which is something I enjoy. Lastly my third favorite movie is The Babysitter, this movie is also a horror movie, I also enjoyed the thrill of the movie and the surprises.

PW #4 – How I became a decent photographer

Since I was a young one, my house has always had at least one fancy camera sitting around. This is usually due to my father’s interest in photography (and his job, but that’s a story for later). Around 2 years ago, when I was 12, I developed an interest in nature photography. This probably stemmed (pun intended) from this very strange nature based weekend group I was attending (another story for a later time). After pestering my father enough, he let me take one of his cameras out on a walk to take some photos. There was only one issue: I didn’t know how to use it. There were so many knobs, switches, buttons, I couldn’t keep up with it! I scoured the internet, I looked everywhere for some answers, but all I got was more confusion. After a while, I just gave up, put the camera down and forgot about it. A year goes past, and I decide to pick it up again. What harm could it do? This time, though, I took a different approach: I just… tried things. I pressed buttons, turned knobs, probably messed at least something up (probably the autofocus). Just taking this more tactile approach provided amazing results: my photos were beginning to look amazing! Now, as a little disclaimer here: I did bother to learn the technical stuff. I find that the tactile approach was supplementary to learning all the technical jargon behind it. So, if you ever want to take great photos: just mess with stuff. What’s the worst that could happen?

PW#04 – All About Volleyball +Starbucks Rant

First things first, you should buy me Starbucks. You may be asking yourself, “Eva, why would I buy you Starbucks?” well, you should buy me Starbucks because I put my best into playing volleyball and work, (and because I’m broke and I can’t afford Starbucks for myself) so please, buy me Starbucks.. more specifically, the strawberry acai with lemonade refresher.

(Seriously, someone buy me Starbucks, I’m begging.)

ALL ABOUT VOLLEYBALL !!!

  1. HIT THE BALL UP, A BUMP.
  2. PUSH THE BALL UP, A SET.
  3. HIT THE BALL DOWN, A SPIKE.
  4. HIT THE BALL HIGH AND OVER THE NET (WATCH THE LINE), A SERVE.
  5. GET AS MANY POINTS AS POSSIBLE, A WIN.

THATS VOLLEYBALL FOLKS.

IRJE #4

In the book Harry Potter and the Philosopher Stone by J.K Rowling we can see that on page number 95 Harry Potter is selected in one of the houses Hogwarts, He doesn’t want to be in Slytherin house because he doesn’t like the people there.

Slytherin, not Slytherin’ ‘Not Slytherin, eh?’ said the small voice. ‘Are you sure? You could be great, you know, it’s all here in your head, and Slytherin will help you on the way to greatness, no doubt about that – no? Well, if you’re sure – better be GRYFFINDOR!’ Harry heard the hat shout the last word to the whole Hall. He took off the hat and walked shakily towards the Gryffindor table. He was so relieved to have been chosen and not put in Slytherin, that he hardly noticed that he was getting the loudest cheer yet. (p. 95)

I like this part because this is a new start for Harry, he didn’t know all the things that happened in the Slytherin house and all the opportunities that would bring him to the Gryffindor house in the future. It would be a new start to his social circle, things with Voldemort and would form his personality .

IRJE #3: Hunger

The book I have just finished, Hunger on the Chisolm Trail by M. Ennenbach, is a creepy, foreboding tale of monsters and the anarchy that is the Wild West. Beginning with a spooky encounter, this book has no problem cutting right to the chase, and the pace is just whiplash-inducingly fast, with barely any breaks. This sense of pace is demonstrated perfectly in this passage:

“The hawk’s cry pierced the silence at the same time a different cry came bellowing from the back of the wagon. Chris stared as the wagon began shaking as if in an earthquake. The cross held so tightly in his hands four drops of blood dripped down his forearm. ‘Jesse! Are you alright in there?’ James yelled. Chris watched in horror as the men circled behind the wagon with guns raised. He heard the exclamations of fear, wordless shouts and gasps. Unintelligible. Gunfire filled the former silence as all three men let loose with the steel in their hands.”

Now this is just a piece of tension-building exposition, however it still goes along at a break-neck pace (literally and figuratively). The next few pages, which I will not quote, are even more action-filled, and genuine fun-filled horror action. This book may seem silly, being about monsters (more accurately, a monster), and the wild west, but sometimes a silly book about monsters and the Wild West is all we need in our lives.

For you I wish I could.

For you I wish I could write you a book, or sing your favourite song. For you I wish I was a better swimmer or that I could walk in a straight line because I know that annoyed you. For you I wish I could fix my own imperfections, not even for myself. For you I wish I was everything you needed to stay, to feel at home or just “Ok.” I cant express how I could before and I cant run as fast as I wished to as a kid, but always know for you I wish I could. Even if we are just under the same stars, for you I still would.

PW #4: Aviation Hooked

As you may have been able to tell from the last few blog posts, I thoroughly enjoy aviation. Aviation almost brings an entire new perspective on the world for me, as everything is seen from above. As it worked out a couple of weeks ago, one of my dad’s closer clients gave me an incredibly unique experience that I am very thankful for. I had the opportunity to go on a flight across Vancouver Island and the Lower Mountains. Of course, being the aviation enthusiast that I am, was so excited to embark on this endeavor. Even now, I am still thinking about how much I enjoyed the trip, due to a unique factor; I flew the plane, at least most of the way, with the exclusion of the take-off and the very last part of final. I have to say, the hangar that the plane was stored in was a dream. Nice and dry, ground facilities, close to the main runway, (09/27), and on the north side of Victoria Int’l Airport, in close proximity to taxiway N. The aircraft that I flew was a Cessna 182Q Skylane, that had completely revamped navigation systems, which I was incredibly impressed with. What fascinated me about this particular aircraft was the plane that I flew was Stew Young’s old airplane, who happens to be a former mayor of Langford. Since the plane had special location systems that public radars could pick up, it was visible on Flightradar24, and I downloaded a copy of the flight path afterwards. The day for flying could not have been better, especially as we were listening to the Victoria ATIS systems that said, ‘sky clear’. This line of speech is always a good sign.

The pre-flight check was essentially a walk-around of the aircraft, with brief examination of the flaps, ailerons, and trim. The taxi out to runway 09 was interesting, as we had to let the engine warm before our takeoff to the east. After we waited for a WestJet 737-8 in the new Spirit of Canada livery, we started our run-up, along with a surprisingly short takeoff roll over Sidney. I took the controls over the Saanich Inlet as we climbed to 8,500ft. I cruised over Cowichan Lake, and the lower mountains. Once we were out of Vancouver’s (CYVR) airspace, I was able to perform a circle over the mountains, which was one of my favourite parts. I went about 20 degrees to the left on the heading bug, and I continued towards Port Renfrew, which looks totally different from 6,000ft. I started a very slow descent as I turned southbound towards Sooke, as I was following the coast down the west side of Vancouver Island. Along the mountains going south, there was some turbulence, but nothing to be concerned about, which was only about 12kt.  I had it planned out so that I could fly straight over my house and the lagoon. As I entered back into Victoria’s airspace, I descended to 2,100ft to stay out of Vancouver’s airspace, which was any altitude above. As larger routes fly out of Vancouver near Victoria, their airspace is expanded to the US border for the departure of bigger jets. I was granted permission to do a few circles over Downtown Victoria, before starting the approach over Brentwood Bay. Approaching the same runway, I let the pilot take the controls at around 250ft, the last part on long final. As we exited the runway, I found it quite interesting that a call to ATC was required for a 100ft taxi along taxiway N. One of my favourite aviation experiences that I have ever experienced, and I look forward to more adventures soon.

The book I am currently reading is “The Psychology of Criminal behaviour and Violence” The chapter I am currently on is about Mental Disorders. It explains about the main disorders someone can have. The case I am on currently is about a woman, Rene Poole from Richmond, BC. She had bipolar disorder.

She asked bystanders repeatedly if they had seen her ex-husband, removed her clothes, and defecated at the side of the road. She then lay down at the edge of the highway and began to laugh. Witnesses sensed that she did not grasp that she was responsible for causing a very serious accident.

She had done that after she caused a car accident involving two other cars. She was acting this way because of her Disorder but also because she had not been taking her medication leading up to this event.

IRJE #3

After finishing the book I liked it a lot and it was a book that I enjoyed it was fun but it was also mysterious to read their adventures, but it also had a lot of meaning and morals that taught me many things about life and how different people can be very good together, complementing each other with the things they have making each other the best of their versions .

 That was a year ago.

I hid in the down under for days and days and kept the door closed, which is why I missed the funeral and the Fair Gwen going away. Gram told me about it afterwards, how she couldn’t stand to live in the house with Kevin gone, and who could blame her?

Grim threatened to unscrew my bedroom door but he never did, he just kept saying I should come out for Gram’s sake, and sometimes she’d come down and say I should come out for Grim’s sake, and so on and so forth until finally I gave up and came out.

I don’t know if this makes sense, but for a long time I felt like I was a balloon, and somebody had let the air out of me. I didn’t care if I ever got the air back, because what does it really matter if we’re all going to die in the end?

That’s how down I was feeling, and sorry for myself.

This book was all happy and fun, a great book about friends and their adventures but like everything, everything always comes to an end and max’s end came when Kevin died, Kevin meant everything to Max, and he was the only one that was there for him. At the end the moral of the story is to enjoy every second in life and don’t spend your time sad, spend the time you have with the people you love doing what you enjoy , At the end we don’t know for how we will be here so we might as well just enjoy and be thankful for everything.

“I don’t know if there’s a God, Avi,” Ethan said, meeting her eyes directly. “But I know that when I look at you, there’s something good in this universe. There’s something better, still worth fighting for. You are— “The words caught in his
throat “—- you’re the very best thing to ever happen to me.
-“Ethan…”. (p. 14)

I liked this quotation because we see that they have a lot of obstacles in the relationship because of the family of Ethan and Avital, that Ethan was a person that it not easy to express himself and his feelings,  the lack of communication and a big secret that Ethan had. We see that both of them solved their problems and this was the first time that Ethan expressed himself and how he felt about Avital.

“The kite runner” by Khaled Hosseini is a book about the life of a character named Amir, he has to abandon his friend, Hassan, in order to escape the soviet invasion.’

“I’ll come back with your morphine and a glass of water, Kaka jan,” Soraya said. “Not tonight,” he said. “There is no pain tonight.” “Okay” she said. She pulled up his blanket. We closed the door. Baba never woke up.

I chose this quote because it conveys the death of a character in a different way than most books I have read do. Typically, in the other books I have read, the death is significantly more intense, but in this book, its over in one sentence. since this character is one of the most important characters in the story, a more detailed death would be expected. The reason believe this was a good choice is because it puts more of an emotional impact on the reader, because it doesn’t overuse anything to make it more emotional, and  it doesn’t use too little.

IRJE#3 MY BROS

In the book ‘Do it Anyways’, there was a quote that, made me think of never giving up on something, whether it’s homework to a big fitness event.

The little tricks

that they knew through experiences

which I didn’t until it was too late.

I went from feeling awesome and saying:

I’m going to finish this thing,

to, That’s it I’m done,

a split-second decision full of regret.

This quote came from the Goruck Selection. It’s a fitness course that he didn’t finish unfortunately, the thing is that he felt very prepared, but the key is the mental game and he had the thought of quitting. When you quit, you’ll always feel the regret later. So when I was reading it reminded me to never quit and to always finish whatever you are doing.
