IRJE #4

In the book Harry Potter and the Philosopher Stone by J.K Rowling we can see that on page number 95 Harry Potter is selected in one of the houses Hogwarts, He doesn’t want to be in Slytherin house because he doesn’t like the people there.

Slytherin, not Slytherin’ ‘Not Slytherin, eh?’ said the small voice. ‘Are you sure? You could be great, you know, it’s all here in your head, and Slytherin will help you on the way to greatness, no doubt about that – no? Well, if you’re sure – better be GRYFFINDOR!’ Harry heard the hat shout the last word to the whole Hall. He took off the hat and walked shakily towards the Gryffindor table. He was so relieved to have been chosen and not put in Slytherin, that he hardly noticed that he was getting the loudest cheer yet. (p. 95)

I like this part because this is a new start for Harry, he didn’t know all the things that happened in the Slytherin house and all the opportunities that would bring him to the Gryffindor house in the future. It would be a new start to his social circle, things with Voldemort and would form his personality .
