Personal Writing #2

My weekend was different than it usually is. On Friday after school, the only thing I did was sleep, I slept from 4 to 8, and I missed dinner so I got to help the next day at dinner. After waking up on Friday I went to have dinner in Tim Hortons with a friend since I cannot go out alone. Then I came back and had a sleepover with Regi and Fer in my room since we were waking up early on Saturday, but I slept at 3 and woke up at 7. After waking up Regi, Fer and I went to JDF to leave Regi for her ice skating practice, and afterward, Fer and I went to Denny’s to have breakfast. At Denny’s, we had pancakes and smoothies, but we didn’t like the pancakes. Just after finishing eating, we went to watch Regi at her class, and then she finished and we went back to school on our way to school, we saw Mr. MacKnight at the stoplight, then we continued walking to school. Later that same day I went to Langford with Shaun, Regi, and Fer to get Tacos from a restaurant named “La Taquisa”, which is actually a very good restaurant. We finished eating and then we went to Dollarama and got chips and boxes for our rooms. Then we came back to school and we saw Keira, Vitto, Juana, and Dany on the bus, and we walked together to school. Just as soon as we got back I went to the dining hall because I had to help the dorm parents sign in everyone at dinner. I thought I was going to get bored, but I actually had fun. The next day I went to have breakfast and then we decided we wanted to go to eat, so I got ready and at 1:30 we left school and headed to downtown. We went to eat at Cactus Club and I ordered pasta that was actually really good, I loved it. After finishing eating we went to buy hoodies, but I left my bag at the bus station and realized when I was at school already, so I lost the hoodie. We got back and we had dinner here and then we got bored, so we decided to play Uno, and 1 won one round. We finished and then I headed quickly to my room to move my mattress from my room to Regi’s room because we had a sleepover Regi, Fer, and me. Then, Monday was just a lazy day. I went to have breakfast and then I went to save on with Fer and Regi and I got Cheetos, and then we watched a movie, “The Conjuring”. The movie finished and then I went to my room and just watched a series. After doing that was already time for dinner, so I went to the dining to get dinner and then went back to my room for the study hall. Just after that when study hall was done Ivanna and I decided to move our room, so we moved the closets, the desks, and our beds.  After doing that, we just went to bed.

Meet Me At the Lake

Fern goes back to working in her family’s resort, which she wasn’t really happy about it, but since her mother passed away she must run it.  Once she got there she was surprised to see her ex being the manager there. Fern promised he would visit the guests in the dining area that night, Fern doesn’t feel ready to take her mother’s place. It’s already time for dinner and Fern chats with the Hannovers, who are long-time resort guests, in the dining room. Just after that day, Fern started hanging out more in the club, with the guests, etc. Meanwhile, Fern meets with the resort’s longtime accountant, Reggie Oswald. Reggie gives Fern a review of the resort’s finances, which haven’t been the best in the last few years. Fern realizes she doesn’t know much about the resort’s operations. She’s sad her mother didn’t tell her about having financial problems, because she didn’t know how to help the resort. After all those problems Fern started to worry about all the problems her mom was facing. Just after talking with Reggie, she got motivated to work in the resort. Fern goes shopping, she’s still unsure if she’s staying to work there, but finally she said yes.

“Fernie?” Jamie calls. “What’s with the lock? You decent in there?” “I need five minutes,” I reply, voice pinched.

“You’re not gonna bail, right? You swore you’d do this,” he says. But the reminder is unnecessary. I’ve been dreading it all day. All my life maybe.

“I know, I know. I’m finishing up some paperwork.” I clamp my eyes shut at the mistake. “I’m almost done.

“What paperwork? Is it the linen order? We have a system for that.”

My mom had a system for everything, and Jamie doesn’t want me messing with any of them.

He’s worried. It’s peak season, but many of the guest rooms are vacant. I’ve been back for six weeks, and Jamie thinks it’s only a matter of time before I shake” things up.” (P.G 2)

PW#1 My Summer

To start off I can say that my was summer was amazing. I didn’t really go on vacations until I came here so I didn’t really go on a trip, just before coming here I went to Houston for 2 days, then I stayed in Vancouver for like 5 days and lastly I arrived to Victoria. Just few days before leaving school I was thinking of what sport should I do this summer since I really didn’t want to go to the gym anymore, because I got bored. For like 3 weeks after leaving school I did indoor cycling, I liked it, but I wasn’t really exercising as normally I would. Just then like 1 week after I thought “what if I start swimming again?” That happened on Thursday and just then on Monday I went back to my club to start again after a year of quitting the sport. I was happier than ever doing the sport I love the most. That’s what I did during weekdays and on weekends I was always hanging out with my friends or sometimes even with my cousins. June and July was basically the same stuff all over again, but August was very different. I didn’t realize that in like 20 days I was leaving for months. On August 2nd I went to a match in the BBVA stadium where it played Atletico de Madrid vs Real Sociedad, and that same day like 2 hours before the match I met Joao Felix and he signed my Chelsea jersey. Then like 2 weeks after I got my braces taken off, I had a “party” with my friends before leaving and then I just had to say bye to my best friend which was kind of hard because there is probability that we don’t get to see each other in December until July next year which made my kind of sad to think about that. Once I got to the school the first weekend was just to meet everyone, make friends, get to know the area which actually was fun, I really enjoyed going to the mall, meeting new people especially the ones from Mexico. I’m very thankful to be here.

all abt me

Hello, my name is Romina, but I prefer to be called Romi. I was born in Monterrey, Mexico and I currently live there. I’m 14 years old and my birthday is on May 31st. I have 2 little brothers that are 10 and 12 years old. I’m a swimmer, but I used to be a gymnast. I’ve done swimming since I was 2, but I left the sport 2 times and I did gymnastics 10 years. I have a pet hamster and his name is Gavi, just like the football player. My first language is Spanish, then English and I started learning German 3 years ago, but I wasn’t very fluent. I saw we got to learn French here which I kind of got excited.

This is my 1st year at Brookes Westshore, and honestly I’ve liked it a lot in here. There’s always something fun to do and people here are very nice and friendly. I have a lot of expectations but mainly my expectations are to make new friends from other countries, learn new cultures, practice my English, be more independent, learn and to have fun.

To be honest I don’t like to read at all, I find it very boring and sometimes I get very dizzy while I’m reading, but there’s and exception. I love to read informational books to learn about famous people, important events, wars, etc. I think that’s the only way people will see me reading a book and enjoying it.

Once I got here I got very excited about English because I love writing, that’s like my safe place, and the subject English is very much reading and writing, which I’m very interested in, but specially just the reading part. I’m very excited to practice my spelling, grammar and my public speaking since it’ll help me a lot for high school and for many things in the future,
