PW #3 – “From War Came Peace”

For this piece, I decided to share a poem that I used in a video recorded for an event that Mr. McKnight’s class is preparing. The poem is called “From War Came Peace,” and I chose it because it represents something very significant to my country Mexico. It talks about our history, the problems people went through, and the strength and hope that still live in us today.

🇲🇽 “From War Came Peace”

In my land there was fire and pain,
the people’s cry and honor were heard again.
Among ashes, wounds, and despair,
hope was born in the broken air.

The flag lay fallen on the ground,
while heaven wept without a sound.
But the Mexican heart, loyal and bright,
rose again under the same light.

Now bullets fade, the wind does sing,
the soul is reborn in everything.
From war arose the final word:
Mexico lives for its freedom heard.
