R to R&J Video

I really enjoyed watching the Romeo and juliet video. It really helped visualise how everything looked in the time of writing and prime of the play.  One of the things I found the most intriguing and funny was the contrast of clothing between the males and females. The females always had on some elegant and beautiful garments that made them look well put together and like they woke up ready to look good. The me, on the other hand, just wore super tight leggins and random items as a top, covered by a padded vest that looked very ugly, in my opinion. This might have been the hot dressing techniques back in the day, but I never got used to the sight of this. Another thing that I also found really interesting is the fact that the main idea of this play really isn’t what people just assume it is. Not only is it a very violent piece of literature and film, but it also isn’t really focused too much on the main idea of love. It is still an idea that the play is written around, but the violence and humor mostly overshadow it to a point that people completely forget that they are reading a piece intended to be a love play. Lastly, I liked the selection of the actors that were chosen to play the roles, it think that their looks really fit the characters they were appointed to play. Most of the males were very good looking, and they looked like they came from that era. The females were a little less good looking except for juliet (which was probably on purpose), but the nurse was very very ugly. I honestly don’t know if this was on purpose or not, but they didn’t chose a good looking character to play her role.
