IRJE #2 Bruno Rodriguez

At the beggining of part two of the book “Someone You Know” by Catherine Fogarty, the frighting story of Wayne Ford takes place in Toronto. Wayne had always had problems with his mother, but one time, he did what nobody would even think doing it: he killed his mother. No one knew this until her dead body came out of a lake and started investigated the case. Wayne was at prison at the time because of other things he did. He didn’t know about the investigation and had to go to the trial anyways.

When they walked into the Fords’ kitchen, Ronald said he saw a lifeless form underneath a bloodied beadsheet. Wayne pulled the sheet back to reveal his mother’s body. Ronald told the jury that the woman had a grey patterened dress on, but he couldn’t see the face because there was a blue plastic bag covering her head. The sight of the body made him sick and he threw up in the kitchen sink.

Ronald was a guy that Wayne threatened to kill if he said anything about the murder, or if he didn’t help him hide the body. Since Wayne was already in prison, he confessed with no fear anymore. This story really made me think about of how some people seem to not have any guilt or feelings because they do actions that would normally make feel them guilt, sadness, fear, etc.
