Watching Romeo and Juliet as a video instead of just reading it made the story feel way more realistic to me. I enjoyed the movie more because I’ve read Romeo & Juliet and watched the other movies based on the story. Re-watching watching the movie reminded me how intense the situation actually is. It made me think about how people can make terrible decisions when emotions are strong over, especially when they are young and under pressure.
One thing that stood out to me was how quickly Romeo and Juliet became obsessed with each other. At first it seemed romantic, but the more I watched, the more I felt like their love was rushed and unrealistic. They barely knew each other, but they were willing to risk everything for each other. Which can be romantic, but personally I wouldn’t get married to some I met a day earlier. People can get so caught up in feelings that they stop thinking logically, and that is exactly what happened to them.
The video also made me feel frustrated with the adults in the story. The fighting between the families was very unnecessary, but nobody had tried to stop it. It showed how hatred and pride can affect innocent people who didn’t even start the conflict. I especially felt bad for Juliet because she seemed trapped between doing what her family wanted and following her own feelings. The pressure she faced made me realize how hard it can be when other people try to control your future.
The ending left the biggest impact on me. Even though I already knew what was going to happen, seeing it acted out made it much sadder. It felt sad because so many deaths could have been avoided if people had communicated honestly or thought more carefully before acting. The ending made me think about how one decision can completely change people’s lives forever.
Overall, the video made the story feel more realistic and emotional than I expected. Instead of just seeing it as an old Shakespeare play, I saw it as a story about love, and the consequences of acting without thinking things through.
