“We’ll Always Have Summer” by Jenny Hann is the third book of the “The Summer I Turned Pretty” trilogy and it stars Isabel Conklin (Belly) in her freshman year of college at Finch University, but one of the only reasons Belly finds herself at Finch University is because she wants to be with Jeremiah Fisher (her boyfriend). As the story unfolds Belly starts to struggle with the idea of marrying Jeremiah Fisher because everything is not how it’s supposed to be. Her parents, especially her mother is in denial for the wedding, they both need to work to pay for the wedding, her dress is from a prom dress shop etc. And while Belly is dealing with all that, she is met with a big distraction: Conrad Fisher, the boy she always loved, the boy she dedicated a play to, the boy that helped her learn how to ride a bike, dance, and have your first love. A quote from this book that really represents how Belly is feeling is
“All this time I thought it was Jeremiah who found Rosie, but it was Conrad. He’d never even told me. He just let me believe it.”
This quote shows the moment Belly realized that all those fond memories she had, were all credited to Conrad, because when belly thought of Jeremiah, her mind immediately went to him finding their dog Rosie, but after she was told by her brother(Steven Conklin) that Rosie was found by Conrad all those memories came flooding back. And she realized that all this time she’s never actually wanted to be with Jeremiah, her heart was always for Conrad.
