Soilders Home by Ernest Hemingway is a story about Kerbs, who came home late from war and found a new way of life. I found Kerbs reactions to coming home more different then how other soldiers reacted when they came home or how they experienced fighting. We know Kerb comes home a year after everyone else, how whenever he tried or wanted to talk about the war and his experiences, he was brushed off and ignored constantly and felt his only way to be heard was to lie about his time fighting, (l-16). He believed he did wonders in the war, how he loved it and how it felt natural, (l-21) which is not the reaction you’d get from a lot of the people who fought in any war. the story quotes ” everything that had happened to him in the war has set in beacuse of the lies he told”, (l-18), showing how he feels as eveything is only true and happened beacuse he lied and people will only ever care about his experiences if he lies about them, the constant feeling that he had to lie for people to care, but feeling nauseous eveytime he did lie and felt horrible about deceiving people so he just stopped talking about it all together, I thought a a lot of his reactions comeing home from war seemed diffrent from the other stuff we’ve read in class, Kerbs doesnt seem to be affected by PTSD, nightmares, alcoholism or really any big effects, he just seemed more diffrent when he got home, not wanting to comit to anything such as a job, religion or relationships, he didn’t feel the need to comit to anything or anything new, he didnt want any consequences if he got into a relationship or started a new job or began to go outside more, he stop putting effort into a relationship with his parents. Over all i belive that Kerbs still suffered just in a diffrent way that others have and had no idea how he was supposed to react initially to the war.

I like how you compared the knowledge you already had on what soldiers are normally like coming home. And I like how you mentioned that Krebs probably has PTSD but because it shows up differently he might not notice it. Good job!
I like the quotation you used; it matches really well with your main point. I agree with everything you said, and how you compared it to other readings we have done in class.
I liked that you explaned how he felt people only listened when he lied. Also your point that he still suffered, just in a different way, really called my attention.
