Materialism in our Society
In now days materialism is something that is very present in todays society, especially for us teenagers. Even if everyone or some people does not want to be materialistic , it can still happen without realizing it , in most of the cases. Social media , trends , brands, and status make people pay more attention to the materials things . Of course i can not say that im not into this because im actually without noticing it , sometimes this comes from the way you dress, the phone you have, or the things you own can change how people see you.
In my life, i know that of course i can become a little materialistic sometimes, even if i do not try to be, but is not because i am obssesed with expensive things, but because society constantly gives importance to them an its not something that just happens to me. As teenagers , we grow up surrounded by ideas of success, appearance, and status.After a while those ideas start affecting the way we think and even unconsciously.
But i think there is a difference between enjoying nice things and letting them define your value as a person. The problem is that modern society often mixes those two things together , many people feel pressure to fit in or look succesful , even when they know material things are not the most important thing in our lifestyle.
So at the end of the day , i believe everyone is influenced by materialism in some way . Some people more than others of course but it is difficult to completely escape it when it is everywhere around us. What actually matters most is being aware of it and remembering that a persons value is much deeper than the things they own.
