WW1 Reading Reflection

So far I think the reading that has impacted me the most is All Quiet on the Western Front. I found that this book stood out to me because of the way that it covered so many different aspects of the war, and the way it described them. I found it really sad when Paul went to talk to Kemmerich’s mother after he died, it really showed the randomness and pointlessness of all the death that was caused by the war when Kemmerich’s mother points out how unfair it is that her son is dead and Paul is still alive. In my opinion (and I feel like many people will share this opinion) one of the saddest parts in the book is when Paul dies in the end. This is and especially sad death because it happens only a month before the end of the war. But I think the saddest death is close to the end of the book when Kat dies after Paul gets him to the nurses station. This is sad because Paul thinks that once he gets Kat to safety he will be alright because it is only a leg wound, but in the end he DIES anyways because of the shard of bullet in the back of his head.
