WW1 readings refection 1.

The reading that left the most imperssion on me is the book All Quiet on the western front. I chose this book because it shows the devastating impact of war on people physically and mentally. Especially from the perspectives of soldiers who thought that the war was going to be about honor and glory but soon find out how devastating the war really is. Before I read the book, I thought that the book was going to be a normal traditional war story about action, heroism, and patriotic glory, but I was so wrong. The book was a book about a raw, emotionally devastating portrayal of the trauma and disillusionment that soldiers who fought in the war felt and saw. I also really like how the author portrayed the story. The book was narrated by a man named Paul Baumer who was a 19-year-old German soldier who with his friends joins the army believing that they would win glory, but they soon realize what war really ment and that they were not prepared for it. The story shows how Paul loses his identity between being a soldier and his life when he is on leave. The book’s ending was good, too. How Paul has a quiet death shortly before the war ends showing how in war life can be taken at any time with no way to predict on when it will occur. That is my reflection on All quiet on the western front.
