Being fair doesn’t mean treating everyone exactly the same. Fairness is about giving people what they need to have an equal chance, not just giving everyone the same thing. Everyone is different and has different needs, treating everyone the same might put some people disadvantages. For example, three people of different heights are over a tall fence. None of them can see what was over. Each person got the same box to stand on. The tallest person can see easily, the middle person can just see, but the shortest person still couldn’t see at all. This shows how giving everyone the same thing isn’t always fair. However, when we gave each person a different sixed box, everyone had a chance to see. The shortest person received more support, while the tallest person didn’t need as much help as the shortest person. Even though they didn’t all get the same number of boxes, they were all able to see over the fence. To conclude, to be actually fair, we have to recognize and support people’s differences so that everyone has an equal chance.
