IRJE #2 – A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder

A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder, by Holly Jackson, Pip discovers more evidence about Sal’s innocence. She finds proof that Naomi and Max were not completely honest about the day Andie disappeared. Pip finds an old photo taken when Andie went missing and discovers that Sal was the one who took the photo, which means he didn’t had enough time to kill Andie. Pip asked Naomi and Max for the truth, and it turns out Naomi, Max and their friends were lying about the alibi. They were trying to hide the fact that they were involved in a hit- and -run accident.

She didn’t know whether the police would take this photo seriously anyway. But if they did, Cara would be left all alone, and it would be Pip’s fault. She couldn’t do that to her best friend. But what about Ravi? Sal was innocent, and there was no question of her abandoning him now Her heart fell away to her stomach; there was only one way through this, she realized. (p.254)

In this quotation shows Pip’s struggle between truth and friendship. She realizes that proving Sal’s innocence can hurt her best friend Cara and her sister Naomi. She struggles choosing what the right thing to do.Eventually she decides not to show the photo to the police, however she believes she can prove Sal’s innocence using other evidence.
