My Weekend with Isabella
This weekend was very exciting because I finally got to see my best friend, Isabella! She is currently attending Shawnigan Lake, a boarding school about an hour away from where I live, so I don’t get to see her very often. It has been a difficult adjustment, as I’m used to spending almost every day with her at school, even though I’ve never worried about our friendship as I believe we’ve always had a strong bond, one where we can go weeks without talking ( often due to travel or just time) and still see each other as if no time has passed. However, I think it feels different now, as, in the past, I always managed to see her in the end somehow. These past few weeks have been a bit harder for me since she has many responsibilities at Shawnigan, and we rarely get the chance to call or update each other on what’s happening in our lives and She also can’t leave the grounds very often unless it’s for special occasions. Not seeing her on weekends has been difficult, as for me, most weekends were spent at her house and most times resulted in me sleeping over. Despite my disappointment at times, I try to remember it’s probably even harder for her, as I know she’s been feeling pressured by schoolwork and extracurriculars and that she even feels isolated at times. Because of that, I always try to be empathetic and supportive towards her, as I know she can’t help it, and I am confident enough in our friendship that I know we can get through anything despite the difficulties. When we finally got to spend time together this weekend, it reminded me how special our friendship truly is. Even though distance makes things harder, I find that it has also made our moments together much more meaningful and has made me appreciate the smaller moments , such as a simple update on her day!
