My favourite poem was “I Know the Truth!” by Marina Tsvetaeva. I liked this poem because it’s short, simple, and but carries deep meaning. Even though it only has a few lines, it leaves a strong impression and makes you think. The poet questions the point of fighting and conflict, which really stood out to me. She claims that there’s no real need to fight, because deep down, the truth is already known people just choose to ignore it. I find that idea powerful, especially since it still applies to the world today.
What I also liked is how Tsvetaeva uses questions in the poem. It feels like she’s speaking directly to the reader, inviting you to think instead of just telling you what to believe. The way she writes feels emotional but calm, like she’s tired of the chaos and just wants peace. It’s rare for a poem to say so much with so few words, but this one does exactly that.
Reading this poem made me think about how people argue or fight over things that might not even matter in the end. It raises questions about truth, war, and human nature — questions I want to look up and learn more about later. Overall, I like this poem because it’s short but meaningful, thought-provoking, and beautifully written.
