Good Girl, Bad Blood by Holly Jackson is the second book after A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder. It follows Pip Fitz-Amobi, a girl who once solved a murder case in her town. She promised herself she would stop investigating and focus on school, but when her friend’s brother, Jamie, goes missing, she feels she has to help. In the first pages it shows how Pip tries to move on from her past but keeps getting pulled back into mystery and danger. The story is full of suspense.
“I’m not doing this again. No more investigating, no more podcasts, no more dead bodies. I’m done.” (p.15)
This quote shows that Pip really wants a normal life, but deep down she knows she can’t just ignore what’s happening. It’s a strong start to the book because it makes you wonder if she will break her promise and what new secrets she might uncover.
