Since I already did Cinderella, this time I’m going to do Snow-white. Did you know that In some versions of the story, the evil queen asks the hunter to bring back not only Snow-white’s heart, but also her liver and lungs? The reason is really disturbing. The evil queen was planing to eat Snow-white’s organs, commit actual cannibalism, to regain her youth. She believed that she would be younger if she ate Snow-white. In a different version, Snow-white doesn’t wake up because of a kiss, but because her very pretty glass coffin was being moved by the prince. When the coffin was moving, for some reason the peace of poisoned apple poped out of her throat. The version that confuses me the most is the one first published in 1812 by the brothers Grimm. The evil stepmother was actually the evil and jealous mother that wanted to murder her own daughter because she was prettier than her. At the end of that version of the story, the evil queen [hag] doesn’t fall of a cliff and die. Instead, she has the audacity to come to Snow-white’s wedding and try to poison her again using the poisoned apple. This time, she was forced to dance in red-hot iron shoes to death.
