Hi, my name is Tali and I moved to Canada when I was 9. I moved here from Israel and I know how to speak in four different languages [Hebrew, Russian, English and French [sord of] ] but my first two are Hebrew and Russian. I have two little sisters [one 11 and the other is 5] , two dogs and a cat. My favorite sports are mountain biking, soccer, and swimming but I’m not that good at them. In my free time I like to draw, read, and just hang out with my friends.

Hello, my name is “Teerakarn weera”, or you can call me “Tee”. I was born on 5 September 2011, which is a year of a big flood that happened in Thailand. i lived in Thailand for 13 years, but I don’t really know the place in Bangkok or even my home city as I should be, because I hate big cities and I don’t really often go outside, I only go outside when I go to school, play soccer, or my mom says that I have no choice but to come with her. I am a quiet person who doesn’t talk much. I’m trying to start a conversation with someone I don’t know, but I can’t. I only show my real personality and habits when I am with my friends or those I know for a long time. Actually, I talk a lot and like to joke around, but people who don’t know me always think that I am strict, serious, and distant. For everyone reading this, I’m not strict; I’m just an introvert who is shy and has trust issues.

Hi, my name is Kasia Bednarz.
I live in British Columbia, Canada, and I have an older brother named Cole. I like spending time with my friends, hanging out, and just having fun. One of my favorite things to do is play volleyball. Over the summer I went to a few volleyball camps and did some extra training so I can try out for a competitive team this year. I love how fast the game is and how everyone has to work together.

I’m excited to meet people from different places and make new friends. I like learning about other cultures and hearing people’s stories because everyone has something different to share.

Travel is another big thing I love. I like exploring new places and trying new things wherever I go. This winter I’m going to Thailand with some friends for a whole month, and I can’t wait to see the beaches, try the food, and learn about the traditions there.

My favorite trip so far was two years ago when my friends and I went to an island called Cosamel to go scuba diving. The fish and coral were amazing. One of my biggest dreams is to travel the world and see what’s under the water in different countries.

My name is Fernando, and I’m 15 years old. I was born on march 23rd of 2010, in my family we are 5 people my mom, my dad, my two brothers and me.I guess if I had to describe myself, I’d say I’m someone who really enjoys exploring the world, trying new things, and just having fun in everyday life.

One of the things I enjoy the most is traveling. Whenever I get the chance to go somewhere new, I get super excited. I like visiting different cities, seeing cool places, and learning about other cultures. Traveling makes me feel like I’m stepping into a new adventure each time, even if it’s just a short trip. Plus, it always gives me great memories to look back on.

Another big part of who I am is my love for food. I’ll be honest—I really love eating. It doesn’t matter if it’s fast food, homemade meals, or something I’ve never tried before, I’m always ready to give it a shot. Food makes traveling even better because you get to taste new flavors and dishes that  can’t always find at home.

When I’m not traveling or eating, you’ll probably find me with my headphones on listening to music. Music is a big part of my daily life. It helps me relax, makes boring days more interesting, and sometimes even gives me motivation. No matter what mood I’m in, there’s always a song that matches it.

I also really enjoy watching movies. They’re like another way to travel without leaving your room. Movies let you escape reality for a while and imagine yourself in different worlds. I like all kinds—action, comedy, even sci-fi.

So, to sum it up, I’m just a 15-year-old who loves traveling, eating, listening to music, and watching movies. These things make life more exciting and fun for me.

 

Hello, my name is Oli and I am a grade nine student at Brookes Westshore. One of my biggest interests is basketball. I enjoy playing the game because it forces me to work skillfully enhance my physique and skills I enjoy how you can simply put all of your effort into the game and it puts a smile on my face and I enjoy playing it. Along with basketball, I also spend allot of time working out at the gym. Working out and pushing myself to get stronger is something that I enjoy and keeps me in line outside of class because it refreshes my mind and makes me feel free. I also enjoy the progress that I can see the strength and physique  I am gaining strength as well as physique from when I started several years ago working out because it also helps me in basketball which is great.

even though doing sport is my favourite activity, I also enjoy hanging out with my friends. talking , and socialising are activities which make me feel good and content.

Reading is my second passion. Even though I love to move around and be physically active, I also truly love books and I get very involved in them if I like them. I am at the moment reading the Alex rider series, which has been very cool and stimulating. The adventures and struggles of the characters keep me alert and make me want to read more.

another of my interests is I really love to cook and invent new things of things that I like but substitute unhealthy things for healthy things this makes me more imaginative and it is a really great thing that I enjoy to do for instance a few days ago I made sugar free protein ice cream and other things like this are really enjoyable for me to do

Hi! I’m Pria, and I moved to Vancouver Island when I was around 7 years old for my dad’s job. I have no blood siblings, but I do have a god sister in grade 11at the school. I like to draw, write, and listen to music on my free time, and I competitively swim and play volleyball for sports. This is my  3rd year swimming and 2nd year playing volleyball. I’ve been at this school since grade 7. Since grade 6, I’ve been set on becoming some sort of astronomer due to my long interest in space and in sciences and math, plus it pays great.

hello my name is Aiden I’m 14 years old. reading is not my favourite thing in the world but I don’t mind it. I was born in whitehorse Yukon I have 2 siblings a brother and a sister my brothers name is Flynn and he is 19 years old and is starting college this year my sister is 17 and is in grade 1

My name is Kingston Zachary Foxall and I am 14 (soon to be 15) years old. My birthday is on September 30th and I was born in the year 2010. When I grow up I want to pursue a degree in computer engineering at the University of Victoria. I have some person hobbies like geography, specially countries and recent history. I also like learning about mathematics and learning more then what is taught. I have played golf before, and it was fun. For the time while I’m in university I am planning to become a lifeguard as a part time job. I am two successful classes away from being able to be a lifeguard. This year I have travelled between the three major countries on the continent of North America. I wish to travel to other countries, outside of North America like a trip across Europe visiting all the major countries. I have two dogs, a Botstein terroir named Phoebe and a pug named Mavis. The Boston is very energetic, she is also younger than the pug which is a very calm dog. I also have a cat named Bridget and a couple of fish. Currently, I go to the school Brookes Westshore and I live in Langford.

Hi, my name is Emilio. I was born in Mexico City and right now I am 15 years old. I like videogames, social media and terror or humoristic tv shows & movies (going to the cinema). I have a younger sister called Barbara, my mom (Diana) and my dad (Alejandro). My favorite sport is swimming but I haven’t done it for like a few weeks because I just came here to Victoria, so I hope that the school gives us soon the orientation to be able to go to Juan De Fucca to do some sports. I took a cruise in Europa this summer, where I visited a lot of countries such as France, Spain, Italy, Greece, Montenegro. I hope I can learn a lot here, make real friends and in general have fun.

my name is noah, my favourite colour is red, i like biking, playing videogames, especially fortnite and gta 5,and i love dogs. one cool thing about me is that i can do a great peter griffin impression. a couple things i dislike are sardines, the phone brand OnePlus, and getting a sore throat. i have four family members, my mom, my dad, my little brother, and my dog, if that counts. i enjoy hanging out with friends and walking my dog. my favourite season would have to be summer, because you can do more things in the sun, it gets darker later, and no school. fall is when it gets chilly, winter is nice because of the break but still very cold, and spring is when the snow starts to melt. my favourite subject would probably be i&s (sorry mr. macknight!) i like learning about history and the way people did things in the past. my favourite movie would probably be shrek, not shrek 1, but shrek 2. the dialogue and unique cast of characters kept the momentum from the first movie, and even though the first movie has an iconic beginning with smash mouth’s “All Star”, shrek 2 just has the better plot.

Hello, my name is Arpan. I am 13 years old. I was born in Duncan (smallest city in Canada by area and near Nanaimo). My parents moved to Canada from India in 2008. I have one older sister named Gurjas and one younger brother named Gurditt. I am really close to my dad and have travelled to places like Atlanta, Georgia with him. I love technology and ships. I also collect phones. I have a grey pet rabbit who is almost turning 2 named Shy. My favorite subjects are INS and PHE, and my least favorite is Math. My favorite food is Shahi Paneer with garlic Naan and Dahi. Outside of school, I play video games and watch videos if I don’t have homework or go for walks and read.  

Hi, My name is Lachlan and im 14 years old. I joined Brookes Westshore around 1 year ago in grade 8. Some things I enjoy and do are golf and I recently built a golf simulator in my garage. I also enjoy mountain biking in my freetime. I also like some video games like Fortnite and stuff. I also really like cars and have seen a bunch of cool ones. My family like too travel a lot and I have traveled too a lot of places around the world. I am going to Japan for christmas this year for fun.

Hi, my name is Barrett Malkow I am 13 years old and I live in Victoria BC. Some things I enjoy doing are, drumming, skiing and being outdoors. I really like taking hikes, going for car rides and taking vacations to new places, really anything that involves adventure and seeing new places. I have been to a lot of places over the years and I am excited to even more. some of the places i have been are, The Rockies, Japan and Mexico. I generally like colder weather so that’s why I really like skiing, I also like to have snowball fights and build igloos. I have a lot of family but most of them live up north in a place called Smithers BC we go and visit them at least 3 times a year so that’s usually when I get to see all of my cousins. this is my first year here at Brookes Westshore and I am excited for the year to come. really I am just here to have a good time and meet new and intresting people who will help me grow and learn. some of my favourite foods are sushi, butter chicken and pizza. I have two brothers which one of them is already here at this school. I heard from my family that this school is really good so thats why i decided to come here. I hope this gave you guys a bit of insight about who i am.

My name is Kennedy Boily. I am 14 years old and was born in Manitoba on June 21st, 2011. I lived in a small town called Emerson for most of my life before I moved to, I moved to Vancouver in 2023 And then moved to Colwood in that same summer while I was 12. For fun I usually play story games like: God of War, Spider-man, Undertale and Deltarune. But right now, I am playing Hollow Knight. I also often read comics like Spider-man, Or fantasy novels. I enjoy movies quite a bit, my dad and I often go to see new movies in the theater. If I am not at Doing homework, at an ASA or reading. I usually play games with my long-distance best friend. 

The class I am most excited about this year is science as I really enjoy how life came to be and how things work, and I would like to be a biologist when I grow up. One that I am worried about would be math since I have struggled with it in the past, but I hope to change that this year. I would also like to start playing basketball or maybe write a novella this year, but I am not sure what it would be about.

Hi my name is Clara and I am 14 years old. I was born in Korea and moved when I was about 6 years old. I have one sister who is in grade 7 right now, and no brothers. I can speak Korean, English and French and I’m currently learning Italian. my favourite sport is volley ball but I do also like golf a lot. I’ve played volleyball for 2 years, and I’ve played on comp and rec teams. my favourite time of the year is august, as that is the only time when I will actually be able to see my family from Korea.

outside of school, I like to hang out with my friends, go to the gym, go shopping, go on Starbucks runs with my neighbour/ best friend or attempt to learn how to play basketball with one of my family friends. my favourite thing to learn about is cultures, because I find it very fascinating to learn about how people around the world live in very different yet similar lives. Another thing I do is tutor kids in math. I have learned a lot while I’ve done this and I think that my patience and under standing has grown a lot since I’ve started.

 

My name is Lillian Grace Mara, and I am 14 years old. This year will be my 5th year at Brookes Westshore.

One of my favourite things to do is ski. I started skiing when I was 10, and now it has become one of my favourite activities and parts of my life.

I love skiing with my dad; he is really supportive and helps me learn new things. He always pushes me to try things outside my comfort zone, which allows me to reach my full potential. This past summer, I also started playing golf. At first, golf was a little intimidating, but now, as I continue to play and grow, it has gotten a little less scary. As I am continuing to practice the sport, playing it has taught me patience and focus.

Another thing that I really enjoy is volunteering in the childcare department at Westshore Parks and Recreation. Volunteering has taught many things; these include, how to be patient and responsible with young children, and it has really helped me understand what a real job is like. Through this process, I’ve also learned a lot about being supportive of young children, as they often look up to older role models, such as myself. Throughout my whole experience, I have completed about 140 hours of service.

My name is will and I am 14 years old. I have a passion for reading, Basketball, and playing Video Games. My favourite book I have read is called, The Martyr by Anthony Ryan, the book is about a brigand that is recruited to fight for the covenant, the covenant is a church, that holds much power over the civilians of the land. I have played Basketball for 7 years, and currently play for a team named The Grind. In my free time I enjoy playing video games with friends, my favourite video game is Call Of Duty. I lived in Comox BC for the majority of my life, and moved to Victoria three months ago. I have a brother named Fred who also goes to Brookes, he is in grade eleven. The class I look forward to having the most this school year is INS, because I am fascinated with history and acquiring knowledge of historical events. The class I am most worried about is Design class, as I struggle with it.

My name is Penelope and I am a 14 year old student at Brookes Westshore, I have been at Brookes since grade 6!

What I like to do in my free time is playing sports! I play hockey for the U15A Reign team and softball for the U15B Lakehill team. Other than hockey and softball, I also enjoy running track/cross country and playing volleyball! Sports have given me opportunities to meet new people, try my hardest and travel to new places! I enjoy sports so much because it allows me to push myself both physically and mentally, which always gives me a sense of accomplishment.

Right now, I am learning to step out of my comfort zone in places other than sports, like with school. This year I hope to become a more confident public speaker, either participating more in class discussions or asking more questions. Hopefully by the end of the year I can look back and agree that I have improved my public speaking!

My name is Hedi Ben Tekaya and I am 14 years old. I was born in Montreal and moved here when I was about 6 years old.

One thing about me is that I really like sports. My favorite sport is soccer. I started playing the sport since I was 2 in Montreal. When I moved to Victoria I continued to play the wonderful sport. Now I play soccer but I also started playing golf. About 3-4 years ago my dad brought me to the driving range and taught me how to golf. I have kept playing ever since. Some of the past sports that I have done are swimming and karate but currently I only play soccer and golf.

Something else that I enjoy is travelling. My family travels quite a bit and I really like discovering new countries and cities. Some of my favorite countries that I have visited are Thailand, Portugal and Dominican Republic. I have been to other places but those were probably my favorites.

A fun fact about me is that I am Tunisian. Tunisia is a small country in the north of Africa. My mom and my dad were born and raised there. My family and I travel there quite often because pretty much all my family lives there. Tunisia is also one of my favourite places to travel to.

My name is Kobe, and one of the biggest parts of my life is basketball. I not only play for fun but also as a way to calm myself down when I’m stressed. Basketball has also given me the opportunity to meet others with the same passion and discipline as me all throughout North America.

In my free time,  I also enjoy doing architecture because it allows me to combine my design side with my imagination. I spend a lot of my free time working out, which gives me a huge sense of accomplishment on a daily basis but also allows me to clear my mind of everything and focus on the present.

On a more personal side, my favourite meal is steak with mashed potatoes, with a strawberry milkshake on the side. My favourite colour is spindrift, which is a light shade of teal and reminds me of the calm Caribbean ocean every time I see it. At home, I have a cat and four horses, and I used to have 4 chickens, which sadly all got eaten by a bear. My dream vacation would probably be a quiet island on the Pacific like Fiji, where I can eat tropical fruits and lay on the warm sandy beaches all day.
