Every day, he watched bananas get packed for lunches, oranges get juiced, and he just sat there waiting to be eaten. \u201cNot today,\u201d he said, rolling toward freedom. With a wobble and a bounce, Crispin tumbled off the counter, landing with a <em data-start=\"489\" data-end=\"495\">thud<\/em>. The family dog chased him, thinking he was a ball. Crispin dodged left, rolled right, and zipped under the couch with feeling like he turned to mush with all damage he had done to himself. Dust bunnies clung to his shiny red skin, but he didn\u2019t care he was free! He rolled through the open door and out into the yard. The sun felt glorious. Bees buzzed around him like tiny cheerleaders. \u201cAdventure at last!\u201d he shouted, even though apples don\u2019t usually shout. But as he rolled down the hill, he realized he couldn\u2019t stop. Faster and faster he went until thud he hit a tree on someones lawn at the bottom of the hill. even with the pebble stuck in his side. Still, he looked up at the blue sky and decided it was worth it.
