For <\/span>me,<\/span> All Quiet on The Western Front<\/span><\/em> gave me the biggest impression of the war<\/span>. The part that stood out to me the most was when Paul went back to his hometown. He hoped to<\/span> feel<\/span> comfortable and wished<\/span> to have time like the old days. However, when he returned, he realized that he no longer <\/span>fit<\/span> in. His fam<\/span>ily and the people in his town <\/span>couldn’t<\/span> understand him and he was <\/span>surprised<\/span> how everyone was living<\/span> as if<\/span> nothing <\/span>was<\/span> happening. <\/span>Paul describes \u201cThey are different men here, men I cannot properly understand, whom I envy and despise.<\/span>\u201d This quote shows how the war changed Paul\u2019s view of the world<\/span>.<\/span> I found this<\/span> quote the mos<\/span>t <\/span>touching<\/span>, <\/span>because Paul<\/span> is still <\/span>very young<\/span>,<\/span> and <\/span>its<\/span> sad how <\/span>war<\/span> changed the<\/span> way he sees the world<\/span>.<\/span> This part made a big impression on me because I thought Paul would be so glad to be ba<\/span>ck home with his <\/span>family<\/span> and friends, but<\/span> instead he felt like he was in a foreign world<\/span>.<\/span> Another part <\/span>that stood out to <\/span>me<\/span> is <\/span>when Paul <\/span>changed<\/span> into<\/span> his<\/span> civilian <\/span>clothes<\/span>. H<\/span>e felt so light<\/span> after changing<\/span>.<\/span> It made me <\/span>realize<\/span> h<\/span>ow heavy the clothes and weapons the <\/span>soldiers<\/span> had to carry. <\/span>Overall,<\/span> this book helped me\u00a0<\/span>better<\/span> understand<\/span> the weigh<\/span>t that <\/span>war <\/span>places on<\/span>\u00a0soldiers<\/span>.<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
