Merida is located in the northwest part of Yucatan, about 35 kilometers off the coast of the Gulf of Mexico. Merida is a really good place to visit because it has many touristic attractions. These are the three best tourist attractions in Merida, in my opinion.
- Cenotes: A cenote is a surface that connects with the subterranean water, they are called “large open pools” by tourists. They are mostly found inside the forest.
- Chicxulub Crater: This crater stroke 66 million years ago and caused the extinction of the dinosaurs.
- Scuba Diving: Scuba diving here is a really amazing hobby. One of the most beautiful places in all of Mexico is just 1 hour away from Merida, in Cozumel. Cozumel is the 2nd place of the best coral barriers in the world.
