That summer in Paris is a book written by Morley Callaghan, the story talks about a man with all the stories he has to tell, all the experience in this city and more.

Some writers like to sit for long hours at their desks. Not me. At the time the New  Yorker had written asking if I had any Stories. I began to work on some. And I was also working on the novel that was to be called It´s never over. But the Paris streets were my workshop. While loafing along the streets ideas for the stories would grow in my head.

I chose this quotation because I think what Morley is saying is something new for me because normally if you think about writers is boring, they just seat there and write about boring stuff, they they usually look so boring in person too, I think like they don’t express their feelings in life, they express that writing and reading, but Callaghan seems more like the other people, he is expressing on both, so that´s interesting for me and I never think about it.

I find that keeping a daily journal is a great way to organize my thoughts, think of great ideas, and learn to live in the present moment but, it’s not easy to think of great topics that you can write about. Everyone has something that inspires them to do their journals but, sometimes is hard to keep looking for more topics or things to talk about. If you don’t know what to write in a journal, then you can start by reaching out to your creative side for ideas. I think that doing journals its something important in our lives because you can wrote about your days, how is life going and how you feel and that journals can remember you those days and have an idea of how much you change or if you have a better or worst life now and also you just can remember that and had good memories of those moments. I´m not a good writer but I enjoy traveling, so one thing that I find comforting to write about is my experiences in different locations around the world, that’s hard to forget because good times never forget so that’s why I would like to keep writing about my trips.

WWIL

War, in the popular sense, a conflict among political groups involving hostilities of considerable duration and magnitude.  The analysis of war may be divided into several categories. Philosophical, political, economic, technological, legal, sociological, and psychological approaches are frequently distinguished. Consequences, one of the most obvious consequence of war is displaced persons. Millions of people and families who lived apart of their sons.  Sometimes there is nothing to return to, sometimes it renders millions stateless. All over the world people are fighting and dying, suffering and sacrificing, praying and purposing that, men have invented bigger and better weapons of destruction. People have tried before to find a way of preventing war, but they have not succeeded.

It was so interesting reading all this poems and this novel All Quiet on the Western Front, Everything we read in this book was very interesting because I understood all the pain and suffering that these soldiers and their parents had when they knew everything that came for them, to sacrifice themselves but to defend their country and the poems gave very interesting messages.

This celebration called Remembrance Day is very important for these families and for the country to remember for all the effort made by these soldiers, sacrificing their lives and giving value to their country. If I were to organize a Remembrance Day ceremony for the soldiers who sacrificed their lives and that their parents supported their decision and to protect our country I would invite their family, friends, and more soldiers, give them a good dinner with classical music and remembering good times reading things they left before going to war or happy moments they did before they died and have a great night celebrating those great soldiers.

My friends and I like to go trick-or-treating on Halloween because it is really funny too wear costumes, eat candy and go house to house to get trick-or-treating. I had the most fun on the Halloween when me and my friends wear weird costumes and take pictures with people we don’t know and laugh about that and also we like halloween party´s. The best costume I ever wore was a vampire. on halloween I love to decorate my house with scary stuff with my family, it is really funny. This halloween I didn’t enjoy it, I missed what I do in halloween with my Mexican friends and family. They make my halloween really Cool and fun. Watching all my friends from my city with their costumes and making noice when we sing in the car. When I was younger I remember when me and my cousins we always went to go trick-or-treating and they wear really funny costumes, and when we sing halloween songs to the people, Mexican traditional song. I remember that when I was going back home I was really happy to eat and go counting my candy. I love chocolate and spicy candy, and its  really funny because we get to many of spicy candy, everything can be spicy here in Mexico.

All quiet on the western front written by Erich Maria Remarque, in this part they are talking about a soldier and his parents, they say what they see in this situation about what the soldier does.

My mother is pleased to see me wearing civilian clothes, it makes me less strange to her. But my father would rather I kept my uniform on so that he could take me to visit his acquaintances.

I chose this quote because I am interested in what his parents think of him, and if they are proud or not, because I think it’s important to know if your parents like what you do or if they think it’s bad for you, because being at war is difficult. Pg164.

That summer in Paris written by Morley Callaghan, memories of tangled friendships with Hemingway, Fitzgerald, and some others, published in 1963. This part I am interested in what Loretto and Callaghan think of Paris and the experience in the theater.

That night Loretto and I, staying on the Right Bank, went to a movie where we were quickly reminded we were in Paris and not at home, The usher led us to a good seat. After we had been watching the movie for fifteen minutes the usher returned, ask to see our tickets, gave our seats to two other patrons who had tripped her, and led us back to the rear. so we had at least learned one thing in paris: in the theatre you have to tip the usher. I told Loretto there was something else we might as well learn just as quickly: to feel at home in Paris all by ourselves.

I choose this quotation because I am interested in what Callaghan and Loretto talked about and thought about the things they did not know about Paris, they had this experience in the theater of Paris, and they are learning and knowing more about this beautiful city. pg 86.

I love to travel, it makes me very happy to go and know new countries and cultures. My family likes to travel in Mexico or U.S.A. they don like to travel far from home. I really enjoy being with my family because you have fun, love and more and, when I want to travel far, I go with my friends, and it´s really cool, just having a lot of fun with good friends, know places with them and learning things together. Last summer I traveled  with my best friend and a group of girls I didn’t know, but during the trip I got to know them and now they are important in my life, travel gives you many friendships and very funny experiences. All the trips you have will always give you a different feeling wherever you go. You always have to remember to enjoy it, because you don’t know when it will be the last time you travel with that person or to that place, that sounds sad but its true. It doesn’t matter if you don’t like the place, what matters in traveling is to enjoy every second and remember that you are lucky to be able to travel with the people you love.

THAT SUMMEN IR PARIS written by Morley Callaghan, one night at dinnertime  Callaghan and his wife, they were looking at the priest and callaghan´s wife went with the priest after dinner and the priest told us about himself.

After dinner in the lounge my wife spoke to the big lonely priest, and we sat down with him for an hour, and he told us about him. This priest, whom I´ll call Father Tom, for he may still be alive, was the Catholic chaplain for a California penitentiary housing incorrigible criminals who were there for life. In ten years he had walked to the execution chamber with sixteen men. All this year he had been breaking out into strange intermittent fevers.

p.76

I choose this quote because I think this part is different and so interesting, I feel like I was reading more than just about Morley and his wifi. Everything the priest said was very interesting and very impressive of what he said.

I am very excited for the Christmas holidays, I want to see my family, friends and my city. I miss my life a lot, I want to be on my way home. These 2 months will be eternal for me, this experience in Canada has been very difficult, new friends, new school, a new life, and different from what I used to. I have to get used to it, it will be something difficult but not impossible. It’s hard for me to be away from my family and live without them.It is not the first time that I am going away from home, I have already traveled to more distant places, but only on vacation with friends, the most I went was a month, and now it will be like 9 months of being out of my country with the people I love. I hope this experience serves me a lot in the future, and all thanks to my family.

independent reading, Ashley

that summer in Paris, Morley Callaghan

morley´s husband is talking about when he went to New York and what he was doing there, he learn things, he was taking lunch with a friend and talk about life.

on the way to Paris we stopped over in New York and had lunch with Perkins, and I had to smile to myself watching him draw out my wife, making sure she belonged, just as he had done with me. When he learned that she had gone to a convent he seemed pleased. with surprising firmness he said all girls ought to be educated in convents. what about his five daughters? I wondered. With his soft approach, sometimes appearing to be intellectually way out in left field, what a firm-minded man he was.

I chose this quote because I thing this part is interesting, shows what Hemingway is doing and what he thinks and how was the trip on New York city. he was listening to Perkins of what he thinks about a convent and more.

personal writing, active

I love to do excessive and be active. One of my favorites sports are basketball, I just to play since I was a kid, I love it, I played with my school of Mexico, and sometimes on the weekend we go out of the city to play with other teams of my state, we were so good on basketball, we always won. My favorite team of basketball is golden state warriors, I love them, I went to see them 3 times, 2 on phoenix arizona and one on san francisco cal, they are the best team of NBA. Now I don’t play anymore, because I want to have more time to do another things on my mind, like be more with my family, play with my 2 pets, and school. But I missed too much basketball, play with my best friends, go 40 out and have fun. But now that I’m hear, in Victoria, I just get stressed and then I eat so much hamburgers in the afternoon because in Mexico it was normal to eat all the day in my state, so now I don’t feel so active, so I want to change that and be like when I was on mexico.

That summer in Paris

That summer in Paris

By Morley Callaghan

That summer in Paris is by Morley Callaghan and is a book based about her trip of an adventure and she explain all about his trip and experience there. The upshot of his summer with Hemingway and Fitzgerald was a barrage of alarums and explosions like violent etc..

It can be only done by telling where I was and what I was doing in 1923 when I was twenty and in my second year at collage in Toronto. Five foot eight, with darkbrown curly hair and blue eyes, I was not overweight then. I was fast with my tongue and, under pressure, fast with my fists, but tell me that I moved around rather lazily. At collaged I played football and boxed.

The quote shows all about her, about how she is physically and what she likes to do besides traveling, tells us about what she was doing in her second year of collage and where she lived, she was very strong and she didn’t care about what other people said and, so that’s why se played football and boxed.
